25Move The Pepper…Hide The Salt!

Are you someone who’s always trying to perfect, that which is already perfect?
Here’s an example: You cook a fantastic dish…it’s got all the right seasonings and a select cut of meat or whatever…it’s perfect. You taste it and have someone else to taste it…then you taste it again and decide, “It needs more salt.” Now, not only is it too salty but it’s also ruined!
Has that ever happened to you…does it continue to happen to you? If so, you’re either already arrived or you’re well on your way to becoming a perfectionist…but not in a good way. You’re the type that church folk speak of, as being, ”So heavenly bound that you’re no earthly good”.
Here’s the deal: God wants us to be helpful…while we’re here on earth. He wants us to reach out to others and help them where they are…right then and there. When you see someone in need…let’s say, a transient/a homeless person on the street…don’t just invite that person to church or start preaching the Word of God to them. I mean, that’s all fine and great but meet that person’s need, at their time of need. That person could probably use a good, hot meal and a nice, warm blanket…on a cold and rainy day…or a real cold drink or just a minute to take a nap, on your cool, manicured lawn…on a scorching hot day. Get my drift?
Stop trying to make perfect, that which is already at its best and instead, focus on things that really need fixing…things that really matter in life. Help a person in need…at their point of need, as opposed to doing so, at the point where YOU NEED TO TAKE THEM! Once that person has been fed or received a cold drink or just a little inch of space, somewhere in your own space, (maybe to take a much needed nap), then that’s the time to share the good Word with them; once they’ve been physically replenished, it’s just that much easier and more effective, to meet their spiritual needs.
So, don’t be that person, whom when others see you coming…they move the pepper and hide the salt, because they’re so accustom to your perfecting that which is already perfect. Instead, be the one for whom others, bring out the pen because they know, once you arrive, the deal will be sealed!
You’ll always be blessed…by blessing someone else, as long as it’s straight from the heart!
